First Impressions
-Visual
He normally sticks with a plain white top, long sleeved, that ties at the front. He largely leaves the ties open so as to make it easier to maneuver the shirt around his horns (and, if you're close enough, this makes it easy to see the network of small, faint scars that run all along his chest). His pants are mismatched, with one leg showing a striped pattern and the other showing checkered. His boots are well-worn and go up to his knees.
Molly is also scarred all along his arms and the back of his neck. The wounds he inflicts on himself heal very quickly, but always leave a scar behind.
-Demeanor
Taliesin describes Molly as, at heart, a "sensualist, bitchy con artist" who nevertheless values empathy above nearly all else. He grew up in a carnival and it shows, especially considering that he served as their barker once he got himself together. He is brash, bold, and confident - he won't always actively draw attention to himself if he thinks this could lead to outright hostility, but will never shy away from it, either. If someone is staring at Molly, he will always stare back until they blink first. He is utterly, wholeheartedly confident in himself...or at least, he's well practiced enough at seeming so to fool himself on most days.
Normally, his sense of humor is tends towards the catty and barbed. Molly is very much a fan of friendly insults, and can call someone "terrible" with the greatest possible affection evident in his voice. That said, he is far from above childish insults if someone gets his hackles up.
Towards people who tend to be shyer or more anxious, especially children or those who have otherwise been hurt, he can be a lot softer.
He adheres strongly to his own moral code, which consists of the tenants that you should always do the job you're paid to do, that you should never steal from those who can't afford it, and to always do a good turn for the world here and there. Molly takes great pride in having left every town he passes through better than he found it, even if he was faced with "deep disrespect" from the people who lived there. His sense of fairness also means that he balks at receiving charity, even in the sense of something as simple as being bought rounds of drinks after a job - at that point, he'll use his sleight of hand abilities to slip money back into the pockets of whoever's buying.
Molly is also hungry to experience anything new or interesting, be it a festival in a new town or some drugs from under the counter in an apothecary. He will participate in anything that has a crowd gathering around it, and in general values experiences far more than money. Due to his very limited life experience, there's a lot he does not know, so he's hungry to cram any new taste, sensation, or sight into his day.
-Aural
When speaking normally, Molly has the barest hint of an Irish accent that can grow more or less pronounced depending on his mood. He tends to speak like a carnival barker, quick and easy and light, a little theatrical, inviting people to listen and pay attention and heed him. He almost always sounds confident, regardless of if he knows what he's talking about ("I hardly know anything, it's part of my charm"). His voice tends to carry when he's not paying attention.
Thanks to being a tiefling, he can try to use his voice to charm people into listening to him, which makes it take on echoes of poisonous sweetness that might put a resistant listener in mind of a serpent.
When speaking Infernal, Molly's voice becomes far more gutteral and growling, and echoes faintly with an innate magic that can cause actual psychic harm if he's lucky. Despite this, he's usually talking literal nonsense unless he knows someone nearby can also understand Infernal, because he knows the language sounds scary enough on its own.
-Olfactory
Molly canonically smells like Nag Champa, a.k.a primarily sandalwood and frangipani flowers. But, especially given his penchant for poking around interesting drug stores, he's liable to experiment with different scents and perfumes that seem interesting.
It's also possible to catch the very faint scent of old blood hanging around him.
-Mental Information
Molly has no memories going back further than the last two years of his life. Occasionally, he gets a flash or a sensation from his old life, but desperately does not want to remember specifics, considering that his old life led to him being buried in a shallow grave and waking up alone, so shaken and broken that for days on end he was only able to say the word "empty". We know very little about the man he used to be, except that "Lucien" was immensely charismatic and capable of very great cruelty in pursuit of his ambitions. As far as Molly is concerned, Lucien is some other asshole who died and left his body behind for Molly to take. Whether this interpretation is literal or not, that is how Molly perceives it.
Mechanically, Molly has a pretty decent Wisdom score, and so is likely to be resistant to attempts to control or effect him mentally. He lives aggressively in the present, attempting to wring any possible new interesting experience out of life.
-Magical Information
Molly has some innate magic as a tiefling, which grants him the following abilities that he can use:
Matt has also implied that it's possible for the "Hunter's Bane" potion all blood hunters consume to become corrupted, and render the blood hunters themselves feral, dangerous beasts.
-Visual
In Taliesin's own words. Molly is: "A lavender tiefling with red eyes and very pierced, extremely ostentatious horns that are pierced with little gems and little baubles. I’ve got a tattoo that seems to be running up the side of my face, a peacock tattoo that goes off into my very ostentatious, ridiculous, overblown robes that I wear. My two swords and pouch dangling at the side of my hips. I am very broad in my dress. I am Mollymauk Tealeaf of the Fletching and Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities. Molly to my friends, and we’re friends now, aren’t we"
-Fashion
The first thing anyone is likely to notice about Molly's manner of dress is his long coat - a gaudy, patchwork affair that incorporates symbols from every accepted god within the Dwendalian empire as well as a great many other celestial iconography. -Magical Information
Molly has some innate magic as a tiefling, which grants him the following abilities that he can use:
- Vicious Mockery - Molly says something in Infernal and the sheer force of his words can cause minor psychic damage
- Charm Person - Molly is able to influence people into being positively disposed towards him and being more inclined to do what he says and tell him what he wants. This is not mind control - the target will not endanger themselves or betray their principles, but they'll see Molly as a friend, as someone safe to confide in, and be inclined to do so. Once the effect fades (it only lasts about ten minutes), or if it was resisted, the target will know that Molly either attempted to or successfully managed to influence them. He has very few compunctions about using this ability to get what he wants if someone is keeping secrets.
- Enthrall - Molly can make it so that someone literally can't look away from him for a short time.
- He can coat something (usually his swords) with either ice or radiant light to make them cause more damage
- He can strike someone temporarily blind (which appears as their eyes going black and tears of blood leaking from them)
- He can draw poison out of someone's pores (including more benign poisons like alcohol)
- Molly is enormously tough (with the largest HP total of the group at Level 5), but his abilities can and have backfired on him, and if he's in a particularly strenuous fight, the damage they cause can and has been enough to knock him unconscious. Normally, he has a Periapt of Wound Closure that automatically stabilizes him if he's too badly hurt.
Matt has also implied that it's possible for the "Hunter's Bane" potion all blood hunters consume to become corrupted, and render the blood hunters themselves feral, dangerous beasts.
